Every Meal - Chapter 12: Put It on the Door
Kong Qiao has been absent-minded at work for the past few days.
He kept in mind the instigation of his best friend. He was always polishing and refining his idea of how he could 'collide' with Tu Liang to verify the unspeakable guess in his heart.
But he couldn't come up with a good way.
Even when he went to buy vegetables, he felt guilty as a thief and didn't dare to look at the butcher.
But every time, the meat he brought home was firm and heavy.
Kong Qiao couldn't help feeling a little complacent about the weight——
That's right.
That butcher must be interested in him, right?!
Otherwise... Why does he cut him the tenderest and most delicious meat every time!?
It was the afternoon, and Kong Qiao, who took out his lunchbox from the insulation bag, couldn't help but let his imagination run wild again.
"Hey, why are you bringing your own food recently?" Several colleague sisters in the same department walked into the dining room with takeouts and couldn't help sighing at Kong Qiao when they saw this.
As everyone knows, this delicate and lovely boy in their department always goes out to eat before, and a lot of them have eaten in many restaurants together.
"Isn't it because the food center in the shopping mall next door has closed down?" Kong Qiao casually explained his change. "I'm also tired of eating takeouts. I might as well do it myself."
"You're right, there aren't that many shops around." One of the sisters nodded in agreement and sighed along with Kong Qiao's words. "You tell me, the food center is doing very well, but why did it close down?"
"Yes, ah. We've been eating there for several years." Another colleague interjected. "But it became quite monotonous. If it weren't for the lack of a vegetable market near my house, I would have also made it myself."
They did not know that he was actually thinking about someone working in the vegetable market, so Kong Qiao couldn't help feeling a little guilty when he heard the casual remark from his colleague.
Isn't he cooking because he goes to the vegetable market every day?
The refrigerator at home almost couldn't hold the things anymore.
"Ai, let me tell you how unlucky I am today."
Lunch is the best time for small talk. One of his colleagues broke the chopsticks that came with her takeout and also lamented her friend's suffering.
"What's wrong?" Another person asked.
"First in the morning, I didn't know why, but the alarm didn't go off. I woke up naturally, so I only have twenty minutes left before I run late."
"It’s no wonder that you arrived just on time this morning."
"Then when I was doing my skincare, I dropped the essence in a hurry."
"Hiss, that skin care is very expensive. It's a pity to waste it!"
"Exactly. Half a month's wages just went down the sink."
"That's straight bad luck."
"That's not the end! I went out with only my bag and no phone. When I wanted to go back to the house to get it, I found that the key was still on the shoe rack!"
"Fuck, what kind of bad luck are you! No wonder you borrowed my phone to order food today."
"Ai, I can only wait for my husband to pick me up after I get out of work. Fortunately, he still remembered to bring the key, otherwise, he and I will have to sleep on the street tonight!"
"Hahaha, that's not true. You two can stay in the car for one night."
"Hateful!~"
The two of them were sitting at a table next to Kong Qiao, so their conversation got into Kong Qiao's ears loud and clear.
At first, he wanted their chat to go in one ear and out the other, but when he heard the end, his eyes couldn't help but light up.
He… has thought of a good idea!
Tu Liang was leaning next to the chopping board, staring outside the store.
It's past the mealtime, but that person hasn't come yet. It seems that he also has to work overtime again today.
There were still two boxes of tenderloin on the shelf.
Upon seeing this, Tu Liang walked out of his working post and took a box. The couple who were picking meat glanced at each other and found that the overbearing staff member was tall and strong, which they definitely can't afford to offend, so they had to put the remaining box in the shopping basket.
It was almost ten o'clock before Tu Liang finally saw that person.
Today Kong Qiao is wearing a peach-colored shirt. The pastel pink is not as bright as the previous colors under the moonlight, but it looks more tender and lovely.
Tu Liang wiped his hands on the handkerchief, then opened the curtain and walked out of his working post with big strides.
But when he reached the door, Kong Qiao had already crossed the street.
He didn't notice him at all. Of course, he also didn't go into the shop to buy anything.
Tu Liang's mood suddenly fell. Pedestrians who passed by were so frightened that they moved away a little.
He felt that he was becoming more and more dissatisfied.
In the past, just looking at the figure of that person was enough to satisfy him.
Now… he's more and more unable to hold back the longing in his heart.
Tu Liang's eyes were still firmly fixed on Kong Qiao's back.
When he saw him take out his phone and tap, some expectations arose in his heart.
Sure enough.
Within a few minutes, the shop's order-receiving system automatically released a voice prompt.
There is a new delivery order.
Tu Liang tore off his leather apron, revealing a tight undershirt.
"I'll deliver it."
He reached out and snatched the newly typed order from his colleague. All the muscles in his body seemed to stretch out in a joyful arc.
It is quiet in the dead of the night, moonless and windless.
When Tu Liang walked into the corridor carrying the delivery, he didn't feel any difference from before.
It wasn't until he stepped up the stairs and knocked on the door of Kong Qiao's house that he realized something was wrong.
No one answered him inside.
At first, Tu Liang thought it was because he knocked lightly on the door.
Later, he increased his strength and knocked several times, but there was still no sound inside, which made Tu Liang feel a little strange in his heart.
He watched the man walk into the building with his own eyes. How could he not be at home?
What's more, the little peacock also intentionally ordered delivery.
Tu Liang himself had inappropriate thoughts towards Kong Qiao, and judging others by himself, many bad guesses immediately arose in his heart.
Could it be... There are bad people in the house?
As he thought about it like this, his strength knocking on the door became stronger.
It was so loud that the whole building could almost hear it.
"You… You stop knocking."
Suddenly, there was a small sound from the crack of the door.
Tu Liang hurriedly stopped smashing his fist at the door. He leaned to the door and asked in a hurry, "What happened?"
Fortunately, it turned out that the person was inside.
"No, nothing."
Behind the door panel, the sound in the room could not be heard clearly.
Tu Liang didn't know what was going on. He only felt that the little peacock's voice seemed a little embarrassed.
"You put the delivery… on the door."
Another sentence came out, however, Tu Liang's doubts did not diminish.
So many times before, the little peacock had never made this kind of request, ah.
What…… happened today?
